A review of The Poet

This is quite a strange book, in many ways a kind of psychoanalytical exploration of narrative–I have never encountered anything like how the author narrates the complex identity of the protagonist. At times it is difficult, and I found myself wincing at some of the viewpoints expressed, particularly around gender (not a politically correct book!), but still and all this book is definitely worth reading for the strange genius of its narrative technique. Parts of it are laugh out loud funny, if only because of being bewilderingly bizarre.
